Random world facts of the 1890s

Post by tuck on 09/06/12, 06:07 pm

So I was doing some research for one of my letters and some calculations to figure out what 1890s money was worth in today's money. The result breaks down as follows:

    £1 (1890s) ~ $126.98US (modern)
    Also, remember that 1 pound sterling = 20 shillings = 240 pence, and thus 1 pence (1890s) ~ $0.52US (modern)

    For US dollars:

    $1US (1890s) ~ $25.98US (modern)

Just thought people might find this useful Smile

Saw an interesting news article the other day on Lincoln's medical report. A little before our game-time, but still cool. I hadn't realized that doctors could be quite that young. http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/news_archives/lincoln-death-report-report-of-first-doctor-to-reach-shot-lincoln-found
