    recap?

Post by elanya on 19/08/10, 08:08 pm

Since I missed the end of the Chupacabra thing, I would really appreciate of someone could give me a general idea of what happened! I don't think I have the time or resources to listen to a recording, if one even got made.

    Thanks Very Happy

Also - I don't know if you guys are going to get a game in before I get back, but feel free to do so! I have plans to keep Simon away if you do, because I want him out of the way when I run my whatsit, and while my plans in that regard are flexible, I may want to do some board stuff in the meanwhile Smile

It was a fairly short session.

We went into the cave after a little bit of arguing whether or not we should have a plan (we didn't). There was a long hallway with many hibernating chupacabras with glowing stomachs. We walked through there, and could hear Watson being happy. It raised alarm bells when we heard him mention Mama.
We got to the end of the hallway where it turned to the right, and saw a smaller group of chupacabras that were blue and purple instead of green and brown, and had feathers instead of spikes. It was set up with tables and chairs, as well as a big brazier.
Nils looked through the fire in it to see a huge fricken statue of a female figure with two snake heads, a necklace of hands, and a skirt made of snakes, as well as Ronnie's brother having a conversation with it.
We decided to have Ronnie flash them and Simon shock them with his new gauntlets, to hopefully stun them. That didn't work so well, and they all came charging at us to attack, at least until Nils called out to Watson. Watson tried and failed at keeping the others from attacking us. Ronnie decided to just shoot the statue and hope for the best. The statue woke up and stopped the bullet. Turns out it's actually the Coalticue, an Aztec titan. She stops the fighting and calls Ronnie forward.
She tells us who she is, and asserts that while she is a titan, she is on our side, since, as she put it, she put way too much effort into creating the world to want it destroyed.
This leads to much philosophical discussion about creation myths and mythology in general, which is a shame you missed because it was a conversation Simon would have enjoyed a lot. She is signifigantly more helpful than anyone else has been on the subject, basically asserting that it's all a matter of subjective reality. She says she's more helpful because she is literally more down to earth than them.
She reveals that the chupacabras are actually more or less incubators for coatl, and that once they give birth they become human and are free to go. When asked how long that takes, she says it's only a few years, and that they will be ready just in time for the coming war. While she tells us that the ones we fight are not the same as the ones she fights, they are working for the same goal.
She tells Ronnie that her brother is 'weak' because he did not consume human blood, and that the 'weak' chupacabras become her servants and never again are human. She gives Ronnie a chance to fix it by giving him her own blood. She of course does so. Her brother will only be out for about six months. Ronnie passes out after giving him the blood, and we are shown out by the servant chupacabras after us over enthusiastically offering to help them. Connie promises to bring them books.
When we get out of the caves, Ryan is parked outside waiting for us. He tells us that he's there to deliver a message on behalf of his girlfriend, Cassie. It's for Ronnie, and is both an apology for causing the rash of chupacabraism and a reassurance that they are on the same side. It's signed Cassandra.
When Connie brings the books, we are rewarded by seven chupacabra skins. Nils takes them and promises to work with the dwarves to make everyone awesome things.

I got some of the plot discussion a bit out of order, I think, but all the basics are there. Hope that helps!

The servant chupacabras, the ones that are stuck that way forever, shed them every so often.
